The Buller Coalfields Heritage Trail
This 120 km return route will lead you through places which have been
important to the regions number one industry.
These places range from coal towns and mines to downstream industries
and transport facilities - some still working, others long abandoned.
There are dramatic landscapes and stunning views from altitudes of
600m and more.
The basic trail can be covered comfortably in a family car and may
be joined or left at various points.
There are 10 stopping places all offering the chance to look and learn
from displays or visitor centers.
Some places offer walking opportunities differing from a few minutes
to several hours.
People who want to absolutely do everything will find a variety of
good accommodation on the way.
It is advisable to get up to date information before starting the trail
at the Westport Information Center. |
